Ian began his cycling career off road in the cyclocross and MTB as a schoolboy, in the junior ranks he became a member of the Olympic Development program and took his first British cyclocross championship.
As he progressed into the u23 ranks he joined the well known British cycling Academy program which has seen the likes of Mark Cavendish, Ed Clancy, Geraint Thomas and many other current stars come through. On the MTB Ian took out the u23 XC national champs and placed top ten in the European MTB Championships behind current Olympic Gold Medalist, Nino Schurter. Ian began his professional road career with the Halfords team and continued to pick up national titles winning the British Elite Cyclocross Championships.
Ian decided to focus his attention solely on being a professional road cyclist and has since had a terrific near decade long career with teams, Motorpoint Pro Cycling, Ednura racing, Maddison Genesis, NFTO and now JLT Condor. He has taken victories in all of the major events on the UK calendar such as The Chorley GP, Lincoln GP, Veleton Wales and can boast massive international wins such as the Bay Criterium series in Australia, stages in the Ras in Ireland and Mi-Aout Bretagne in France and very recently took a Stage win and 2nd place overall at the New Zealand Cycling Classic in January 2018.
